Brno, Czech Republic - During a live community stream at Game Access 2025, the developers of Gray Zone Warfare dropped a subtle but exciting tease for fans of atmospheric, mysterious gameplay. When discussing inspirations behind their tactical shooter, Community Manager Jakub and QA Lead Jacek name-dropped a legendary figure in the gaming world: Alexey Sityanov, creator of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

“We got talking and said that Gray Zone Warfare might actually be kind of inspired by Stalker and Roadside Picnic things,” said Jakub. “And he’s like, ‘There’s not enough supernatural stuff.’”
While the exchange was lighthearted, Jakub hinted that the concept isn't entirely off the table:

“Maybe in Ground Zero, you know. I promised him that eventually there is going to be something. But right now, all the supernatural stuff are bugs, not features.”

The acknowledgment of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.’s influence known for its eerie atmosphere, radiation-riddled anomalies, and chilling undertones suggests that Gray Zone Warfare could one day explore similar territory. Though the developers were quick to clarify there are no current supernatural mechanics, the door seems wide open for future updates.
With the Ground Zero content still under wraps, this brief but telling exchange has sparked speculation among fans about what kind of paranormal or creepy elements might be on the horizon.

For now, the anomalies remain in the code not the forest.
